What does it mean to be a Mustard Seed Farmer?
The farm was established 100 years ago, and the original barn is still standing. The Strickland family purchased it in 1942, and in the 1950’s the farmhouse was lost in a fire. The community rallied around the family and a new house was built in a very short time. In 1987, Bob Clark and his wife Faye (Strickland) took over ownership of the farm.
Matthew 13 “The kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
Here at The Farm, we are sowing faith…we’re growing hope, and we’re harvesting so much more than we ever dreamed.
We are carefully building this farm with organic principles and in harmony with the land as much as possible. One of the practices that we incorporate is ‘No Till Gardening’, which is a method that enables us to work with the land, and not against it.
We are starting small…a modest garden, 10 chickens, selling plants at market, canning our harvests using family recipes. We’re learning as we grow, we are heavily invested in family and faith, and we have a vision of this land being used for good things.
